Make your own acoustic guitar - Melvyn Hiscock
Make Your Own Acoustic Guitar follows the same style as Make Your Own Electric Guitar by describing how the guitar works and how to go about designing and building one. There is a lot of information available on the technical side of guitar making but much of this is irrelevant for a beginner and so Make Your Own Acoustic Guitar shows the basics that you need to get started.
The guitar is broken down into its parts and chapters cover design, woods, tools the top, the back and the sides, how to make necks and fingerboards and the variations that are used to put them all together.
Five guitars are made as examples and these cover reclaimed materials, cutaways, 12-string guitars and, perhaps uniquely in a book such as this, resonator guitars. There is also a Martin factory visit to show how guitars are made in volume and how this is often quite similar to how they are made in a small workshop.
